Minden-Amber Gwinn and Kali Schmidt both scored two goals and had assists on Tuesday as Douglas beat Hug 5-0.

The Tigers (12-3) have now won their eighth consecutive game since losing 1-0 to Carson on Sept. 26. It was the first time in eight years that Douglas lost to Carson. On Thursday, the Tigers will play the Senators at 3 p.m. in Carson City in the last regular season game for both seasons.

Jessica Haltam, who started the season as the team's manager, became the 19th Douglas player to score this season with her second-half goal. Haltam then assisted on Schmidt's goal in the 76th minute.

After missing last Saturday's game against South Tahoe, starting goalie Ashley Sulprizio again didn't play against the Hawks because of strep throat. Douglas coach Fred Schmidt said that Sulprizio probably won't play against the Senators but her replacement Mallory Moore, has been playing outstanding.

"We have plenty of confidence in her," Schmidt said.

Schmidt's still uncertain on whether Sulprizio will be back for the zone playoffs, which start next Tuesday. As the No. 2 seed, Douglas will likely open up with a home game against Elko in the first round.

Hug falls to 1-12-2 and will miss the playoffs.
