Flags were flown at half staff on Thursday in honor of the armistice ending the Korean War.

The armistice was signed July 27, 1953. President Clinton ordered flags flown at half staff in honor of the 54,000 Americans killed and 104,000 wounded in the war.

Ceremonies earlier this summer marked the 50th anniversary since North Korea invaded the south.

More than 8,100 Americans are listed as missing in action from the Korean War.
