The Galena girls soccer team rolled to a 5-0 win over Sparks. Amy Jackson scored three goals, Annie Baxter had one goal and three assists, Heather Wark scored once and Breanne Kephart and Tiffani Thomas added assists.

"Annie and AJ were brilliant up front," said Galena Coach Sean Canty, commenting on Baxter and Jackson. "They were patient in their execution and had superb finishes."

Patricia Garrick, Megan Baumbach and Wark played well at midfield. "Our midfield turned in their best performance thus far," Canty said. "Trish (Garrick) and Megan controlled the game from the middled and facilitated our possession game.

"Wark put some excellent balls into the mixer and got us on the board early. Tiffani continues to turn in solid performances from the back. She has been a force."

Goalie Jaylene Chen made six saves in posting the shutout. "The girls came out and finally scored early," Canty said.

"Once we did, we executed patiently and didn't force anything. It was a reflection of how we can perform every game."
