HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Police arrested a Henderson woman who allegedly shot her husband during a Christmas morning celebration in the Southern California home of their daughter.

Arlene Lancelot Gabel, 66, was booked for investigation of attempted murder in the shooting of husband Jerry Gabel, 62, during an argument in the couple's daughter's home, police said.

Gabel was described only as stable with a neck wound at University of California, Irvine, Medical Center, the hospital said.

Bail was set at $250,000 for Mrs. Gabel.

The couple had been having marital problems and their daughter telephone police when the argument escalated.

''She was hysterical, and during the conversation, she said, 'Oh my God, there's a gun,''' Sgt. Richard Butcher. ''Next thing you know, she is requesting a paramedic and says, 'Somebody's been hit.'''

Butcher said the woman brought the .22-caliber pistol with her from Nevada.
