Hettrick repeats as Minority Leader and GOP adds a seat on Ways and Means

Douglas County's Lynn Hettrick will repeat as Republican Minority Leader in the 2001 Assembly.

He named a team that includes Barbara Cegavske of Las Vegas as his assistant and Greg Brower, who represents Washoe County and parts of Carson City, as Minority Whip, joined by Kathy Von Tobel of Las Vegas.

Republicans added a new member, increasing their share of the lower house to 15 out of 42. David Brown of Henderson defeated Gene Segerblom in the November elections.

That victory was enough to win the GOP one additional seat on the powerful Ways and Means Committee.

That means Sandra Tiffany of Las Vegas will return to the money committee this session, bringing total Republican membership there to five out of 14.

Hettrick also sits on Ways and Means. His other committee assignments are the Commerce and Labor and Elections, Procedures and Ethics committees.

Brower, the other Republican who represents part of the Capital, sits on Judiciary, Taxation and the Elections panels as well as Constitutional Amendments.
