"HiTops", an '80s family musical, will play at Carson Valley Community Church today, Friday, and Sunday. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.
The musical focuses on a Christian response to peer pressure. In the story, three angels are sent to earth to learn about peer pressure through experience. As they enter a high school disguised as a Valley girl, a punk rocker, and a nerd, they encounter Lucifer.
"Lewy", or Satan, also incognito, is busily tempting students to make bad choices through peer pressure. The show, which features upbeat music, depicts the struggle many teens and adults face daily over issues like popularity, cliques, drug and alcohol use, and premarital sex.
The cast of 15 includes youth group members from CVCC and Carson City Christian Fellowship. Several adults are also involved. "HiTops" was written by Debbie and Ernie Rettino; the show toured nationwide in the mid-'80s.
Free tickets will be available for the public at the door. Tickets may be set aside by calling the church office at 267-3020.
