Hunter's safety course offered on Aug. 29

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will host a hunter's safety course Aug. 29 from 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m.

To successfully complete the course, an attendee must be there for the entire day, complete a workbook prior to the day of instruction and be able to successfully pass a written test.

The course will cover wilderness survival, gun handling and safety, hunter ethics, archery and wilderness management. Participants should be at least 11 years old. The fee for the course is $5 for participants 18 years or older; under 18 is free.

The next course will be in March 2001.

Interested persons must register at either the Sheriff's Office, 1625 8th St., Minden or 175 Highway 50, Stateline. At the time of registration, a workbook and text will be given to the participant. Call 782-9900 or 586-7250.
