LAS VEGAS - A 52-year-old West Covina, Calif., man died and eight people were injured Sunday in a single van crash on Interstate 15 near Baker, Calif.
California Highway Patrol troopers said six of the people traveling in the group were from West Covina. Authorities did not say where the other three were from.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Troopers said the van suddenly lost air in its right rear tire about 4:35 p.m. The loss of pressure caused the 39-year-old driver to lose control of the van and run off into the median.
The vehicle flipped once, ejecting the man who died and a 47-year-old woman, before landing on its wheels. She suffered serious injuries.
The remaining passengers suffered minor injuries.
