RENO - A man who spent a night in a broken down pickup with children on a mountain near Reno last week has been arrested on suspicion of lewdness with a minor.

Martin John McRae, 26, Reno, was being held Wednesday in the Washoe County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

The commercial driver for a local trucking company is accused of molesting two girls, ages 8 and 10, after his Ford pickup broke down on Peavine Mountain last week, sheriff's deputies said Wednesday.

McRae had taken his three children, two neighbor children and a nephew on a four-wheeling trip up the mountain last Monday before he was reported missing. They stayed on the mountain through the night, and McRae hiked to a convenience store the next morning, where he called his wife, who called police.

Search and rescue personnel found the group about 7 a.m.

No complaints were made at the time. But two days later the Washoe County sheriff's office received a complaint from a Stead woman who accused McRae of molesting her daughter.

Sheriff's detectives said he was arrested at a Sparks residence where he was staying Tuesday night. An investigation is continuing.
