Miami airport cargo handler accused of stealing diamonds

MIAMI - A cargo handler at the Miami airport was accused of stealing a $60,000 shipment of white diamonds from a UPS plane he was unloading on his first day on the job.

Nelson Rafael Gomez, 18, was charged Wednesday with grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

Police said he sold the gems to three pawn shops for $2,500. Police recovered the diamonds.
