Missing hiker found dead from heat exposure

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The badly decomposed body of a New York City man has been found in northern Arizona after he was reported missing in Las Vegas last week.

Authorities say Gilad Viday, 35, died in 120-degree heat after hiking into a rugged canyon close to the Lake Mead area near U.S. 93. His body was found Thursday.

Viday apparently ignored several posted signs warning hikers of the extreme heat, said Mohave County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Johnson. Investigators believe Viday was hiking without water.
