Obituary: Dorothy Hollis Harman

A memorial service for Dorothy Hollis Harman, 83, a Powell Butte, Ore., resident, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Autumn Funerals Chapel, Redmond, Ore.

Mrs. Harman died July 9, 2000. She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Hollis, Okla., to Ernestine Lance and Grover Cleveland Hollis.

She was raised and educated in Hollis and after graduating from high school she was the society editor for the Hollis daily newspaper. She attended Utah State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and social studies.

After graduation, she worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and lived in Utah, Washington, New Mexico, Nevada and Oregon. She also took several trips to Europe and one to Australia.

She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, a member of White Shrine, the PEO Sisterhood and the First Methodist Church in Carson City. She loved to crochet.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands and three sisters.

Among her survivors are her son Thomas Hollis Cross of Bothell, Wash.; daughter Elizabeth Ann Currier of Powell Butte and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bend/LaPine Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
