Obituary: Geraldine Etchison

A funeral for Geraldine Etchison, 76, a Carson City resident for the past 30 years, will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fourth Ward, in Carson City.

Mrs. Etchison died Dec. 16, 2000, at her home. She was born June 9, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James and Violet Christiansen Cole.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived at South Lake Tahoe.

Mrs. Etchison was a restaurant owner. She enjoyed going to flea markets, writing poems and collecting antiques. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Tammy Turnbull, brother Clair Thornton and grandson Travis Hemmingsen.

Among her survivors are her mother Violet Thornton of Utah; daughters Pam Hemmingsen of Carson City, Rhonda Chioino of Elko and Monique Wilson of Dayton; brothers Ross Thornton, Hal Thornton and Jack Thornton; sisters Avril Pettery, Darkcus Christiansen and Myrna Thornton and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
