Obituary: Ralph L. Ahlberg

A memorial service for Ralph L. Ahlberg, 79, a resident of Las Vegas for the past year, will be today at 5:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Sparks, 1231 Pyramid Way, Sparks.

Mr. Ahlberg died June 30, 2000 in Las Vegas. He formerly lived in Carson City for 20 years and also resided in Dayton and Reno.

Mr. Ahlberg was born Sept. 6, 1920 in Ogden, Utah to Ollie and George Ahlberg.

He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Santa Fe Battalion. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 3396 in Sparks. He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1982 after 43 years of service. He was also a member of the Reno Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Masonic F&AM Elko Lodge #15, the Nevada Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Reno, the Kerak Shrine and was a past member of the Carson City Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Faye Ahlberg.

Among his survivors are his daughter Claudine Hansen of Las Vegas; son David of Kenai, Alaska; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
