A funeral for Stanley Chester Peyton, 88, a lifelong resident of the Carson Valley and Carson City area, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Peyton died Oct. 22, 2000, in Gardnerville. He was born June 29, 1912, in Gardnerville to Thomas and Clara Jacobsen Peyton. He was raised on the Jacobsen Ranch in Carson Valley.
Mr. Peyton was a Nevada highway patrolman. He was one of the original eight Nevada highway patrolmen at its inception in 1948. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J. USA 32nd degree and the Shriners Kerak Temple of Reno. He enjoyed horseback riding, packing in to camp and fishing. He was a volunteer fireman and worked on the Warren Engine Company No. 1 located behind Geo. Myers Hardware.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marion in 1983.
Among his survivors are his sister Zelma Richard of Sacramento, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
