Obituary: Tom Scott Stender

A memorial celebration of life for Tom Scott Stender, 47, a Gardnerville resident for the past 15 years, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carson Valley Community Church, 3616 N. Sunridge Drive, Jacks Valley.

Mr. Stender died Sept. 15, 2000 at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Stockton, Calif., to Leon and Shirley Scott Stender.

He attended St. Anne's School, graduated from Lodi High School and attended Delta College.

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived at Lake Tahoe for 10 years.

He married Loretta Mueller in Mexico Oct. 27, 1989.

Mr. Stender worked at Caesar's Tahoe for 20 years. He was a member of the Morada Fire Department in Stockton, Calif. He loved camping, hiking and skiing and he was a mountain man who loved the mountains.

He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Sandy.

Among his survivors are his wife Loretta of Gardnerville; father and stepmother Bonnie of Stockton; brothers Kurt of Stockton and Alan of Oakdale, Calif. and sisters Cheryl Le Valley and Barbara Hunter, both of Stockton.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carson Valley Medical Center Hospice, 1107 Highway 395, Gardnerville 89410.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
