Reid to speak at Democratic convention

Sen. Harry Reid,D-Nev., will speak during prime time at the Democratic National Convention Thursday.

Reid's speech will be delivered between 4 and 5 p.m. Pacific time the same evening as nominee Al Gore is to speak.

As the Senate's number two ranking Democrat, Reid said he will focus on the accomplishments of the last eight years and his support for Gore.

"I served with Al Gore in both the House and Senate and have worked closely with him during his tenure as vice president," said Reid. "I know first-hand his commitment to his family and the nation."
