St. Teresa's eighth-grade and third-grade religion classes, led by Diane Schnaser, Mary DeBacco, and Sharon Field, visited residents at Carson Convalescent Center.

The children entertained residents with several rounds of traditional Christmas carols and even honored a few requests. There was laughter, smiles, clapping and cheering from everyone.

The staff was exceptional, from the organizational efforts of Coleen Reyes, activities director, to the assistance and participation of the nurses assistants - bringing residents in, encouraging the children, offering help and giving ready smiles.

There were a few men, who work in the kitchen, who chose to enjoy the show from the sidelines only. The sing-a-long could have gone on and on, but the children wanted to have time to pass out candy canes, homemade cookies, smiles and hugs.

The residents were animated, interactive and unabashedly asked to have their pictures taken with the children. As they left, there was a mixture of smiles and tears, as the hearts of young and old were touched by tenderness, love and memories of Christmas gone by.
