LAKEVILLE, Ind. - Three construction workers were found slain in a barn where they were working.
A co-worker who checked on the men Thursday found the bodies of Wayne A. Shumaker, 59; Corby Myers, 30; and Lynn Ganger, 54.
Mike Swanson, commander of the St. Joseph County Special Crimes Unit, called the slayings ''gruesome and violent'' but would not say how the men were killed or provide further details.
Police said they had not established motive and had no suspects. Autopsies were planned for Friday.
''We have three innocent workers who came to work, and now their families are going to suffer,'' Swanson said.
The barn was located in a rural area midway between Lakeville and Lapaz in St. Joseph County, about 25 miles south of South Bend.
