ELKO - A Nevada woman who apparently was not wearing a seat belt was thrown from her truck and killed but her 5-month-old son buckled in a child safety seat escaped the single-vehicle crash unhurt.

Shannon Kyllonnen, 30, Spring Creek, died from injuries she suffered Wednesday afternoon when her GMC Suburban left the road and rolled on State Route 227 about 11 miles south of Elko, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Kyllonnen was transported to Elko General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead from numerous injuries. The patrol said an investigation was continuing.

''Preliminary investigation reveals that Kyllonnen was not wearing her seat belt and that her 5-month-old child was properly restrained in a child safety seat,'' the patrol said in a statement.
