Bently receives engineering award

Donald E. Bently, founder, owner, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Bently Nevada Corp., was recently selected as the co-recipient of the 14th Frederick P. Smarro Award.

The award is presented to an engineer who has made a significant contribution to the discipline and practice of plant maintenance and/or engineering.

Formal presentation of the award was Wednesday during the 2000 National Plant Engineering MRO & Management Show and Conference in Chicago which is the venue of National Manufacturing Week.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (Plant Engineering and Maintenance Division) and Reed Exhibition Co.established the Frederick P. Smarro Award in 1987.

Bently Nevada Corp. provides instrumentation, software and engineering services to help its customers protect and manage their machinery.

Based in Minden, its annual sales approach $200 million with more than 70 percent of its products supplied outside the United States. The company employs more than 1,700 people and has sales and service offices in the principal industrial centers of more than 40 countries.
