Boat registrations in the United States

According to a publication produced by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, recreational boat registrations in the U.S. were led by the State of Michigan.


That state had 987,000 registered recreational boats. It was followed by California with 894,000, Florida with 809,000, Minnesota with 780,000 and Texas with 614,000.


On the other end of the scale, the District of Columbia only had 1,993 registered recreational boats. it was proceeded by Guam with 3,000, the Virgin Islands with 3,998, Hawaii with 15,000, Alaska with 34,000 and Rhode Island with 36,000.


Nevada had a total of approximately 60,000 boats of which approximately 14,500 are personal water craft.


Nevada also reported a total of 146 boating accidents with two fatalities. This compared to Michigan with 415 accidents with 21 fatalities (the highest number of accidents) and Vermont with 10 accidents with two fatalities (the lowest).
