Bower to speak to Republican club

State Assemblyman Greg Brower is the scheduled speaker for the meeting of the Carson City Republican Women's Club, Nov. 16.

Elected to the State Legislature in 1998, Assemblyman Brower represents District 37, which includes the western portion of Carson City. During the 1999 legislative session, Brower served on the Education, Taxation, Judiciary and Constitutional Amendments committees and the Select Committee on Electrical Utility Restructuring. He was named Outstanding Freshman Legislator in a poll conducted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

During the legislative interim, Brower is serving as chairman of the Legislature's Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's oversight committee and as the chairman of the Committee on Regulations.

Brower received a degree in economics from the University of California-Berkley. He then served as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy before attending the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. He currently practices law with the firm of Jones Vargas in Reno.

The Carson City Republican Women meet on the third Tuesday of each month, at the Carson City Nugget, beginning at 11:30am. The buffet lunch costs $12 per person.
