The natural ice skating pond at Davis Creek, 25 Davis Creek Road, off Old Highway 395 in Washoe Valley, froze firm allowing a Dec. 22 opening. Skating is free of charge. Attendees should bring their own skates as there are no rentals available. Hours of operation are: Sun.-Wed., 8 a.m.-4:30 pm.; Thurs.-Sat., 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
Washoe County Parks advises calling the park in advance to make sure the pond is open. Call 849-0684.
