The 1997 flood made Carson City officials start thinking of a better storm drainage plan for the city.

The city has a storm drainage advisory committee, and if you have a background in real estate, public policy and government finance, engineering with a water resource background or other engineering skills you might fit in with other committee members.

The committee's main task is to advise city supervisors about the community's expectations on flood protection. The committee will also work on recommendations of financing for storm drainage and infrastructure improvements and updating the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance among other duties.

There is one vacancy on the board. Board members should expect to serve up to 10 hours per month. The term for this position ends August 2000.

Anyone interested in serving can pick up an application at 201 N. Carson St., Carson City, 89701 through Feb. 25. Applications can be faxed to 887-2067. Contact Judy Fisher or Sami Clark at 887-2103 for information.
