Carano honored as alumnus of the year

Don Carano, owner and chief executive of the Eldorado Hotel/Casino, was recently honored at the University of San Francisco Law Society's annual holiday luncheon as USF Law School's 1999 Alumnus of the Year.

Carano received both his undergraduate degree in 1954 and his JD in 1959 from USF.

During his 20 years of practice, Carano specialized in corporate business and gaming law and by 1973 took his knowledge of the gaming industry and opened the successful Eldorado Hotel/Casino.

In 1981, Carano with his wife Rhonda founded Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery and in a joint venture with Circus Circus Enterprises Inc., opened the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in 1995. Carano continues a partnership with a local law firm.
