Carson City man pleads guilty to having sex with a minor

A 24-year-old Carson City man pleaded guilty Tuesday to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Toby Russell admitted in Carson City District Court to being with the girl, also from Carson City, between May 1 and Aug. 12. Russell's lawyer said the girl is pregnant.

The felony offense is punishable by 1 to 5 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. Russell is set to be sentenced on Jan. 11.

Despite objections by Deputy District Attorney Anne Langer, Judge Michael Fondi granted a request that will allow supervised visitation between Russell and the girl during Lamaze classes and other preparations for the baby's expected birth in May.

Russell has a prior felony conviction for attempting to terrorize.
