Carson's Price throws no-hitter

Thanks in part to the pitching arm of Carson City product Jason Price, the Feather River College baseball team is sitting on top of the Golden Valley Conference baseball race.

Price, a 1998 Carson High School graduate, boasts a 7-2 season record (5-0 in conference) after throwing a no-hitter against Shasta in Redding, Calif., last Saturday, March 31.

Feather River, a community college located in Quincy, Calif., won the game, 6-2, allowing two unearned runs on back-to-back errors in the fourth inning. Price rang up five strikeouts, got 13 other batters on ground ball outs, and retired 18 of the last 20 batters he faced in the nine-inning conference contest.

Feather River (11-2 conference, 21-6 overall) resumes play today with a doubleheader against College of the Redwoods in Eureka, Calif. The Golden Eagles hold a half-game lead in the conference standings over Lassen - the two rivals face each other in a noon doubleheader.

Price is one of four Carson Country products in Feather River's starting lineup. T.J. Bond is the catcher and Bruce Jacobsen plays third base - both are 1999 Douglas High graduates - and Dayton's Jeremy Kinney is the No. 2 pitcher.
