Fernley death suspected to be homicide

FERNLEY - Lyon County Sheriff's investigators are treating the Thursday death of a Fernley woman as a homicide.

The cause of death for Ethyl Booten, 76, remained undetermined Friday afternoon, Lyon County Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Lange said.

According to Lange, Michael Booten reported coming home from work Thursday and finding his mother lying unresponsive on her bed.

Michael Booten called the emergency dispatch center at 6:10 p.m. to report the incident and deputies found the woman deceased, Lange said.

Reports were broadcast that it appeared to be violent in nature.

Lange said Ethyl and Michael Booten shared a two-bedroom apartment on Circle Drive.
