Fly fishing festival set for Sunday

Sunday is the date of the sixth annual Fly Fishing Festival.


The festival will be held at the Carson Valley Inn (CVI) in Minden. It will feature a fly fishing and fly tying exhibits, displays, vendor booths, speakers, demonstrations, competitions, etc.


The hours will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.


The list of exhibitors includes: Peter Bauer of the Angler's Edge in Gardnerville, the California Dept. of Fish and Game, Lahontan National Fish Hatchery, Pleasant Valley Fly Fishing Preserve, Sage Rod Company, Sierra Fly Shoppe of Carson City, Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters of South Lake Tahoe, Trout Creek Flies of Zephyr Cove and Trout Unlimited.


The keynote speaker of the day will be world renowned fly fishing guide, author and lecturer Denny Rickards. Other festival speakers will include Frank Pisciotta and Gene Young.


The cost to attend is $5 per person with anyone under the age of 16 admitted free. An entire family can attend the festival for $25.


During the day, there will also be outdoor flycasting demonstrations slated in the CVI parking lot, weather permitting. Among the festival's features this year will be a casting contest. That contest will be open to both pros and amateurs.
