A fund-raiser to help the Katie Ortiz benefit fund will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Round Table Pizza in Eagle Station, 3815 S. Carson St.
Ortiz, a wife and mother of two children, recently underwent surgery to remove a choroidal melanoma in her eye. Due to excessive bleeding, the surgeon had to remove the eye. Katie and her family are facing ever increasing medical costs with more on the way.
Katie works part-time and, with her husband's new business, cannot afford medical coverage. All proceeds from this fund-raiser will benefit a fund established for the Ortiz family at the Greater Nevada Credit Union.
Products from the following companies, which are donating proceeds to the fund, will be available: PartyLite Candles, 885-7867; The Pampered Chef, 883-5525; Homemakers Idea Co., 882-6672, and Princess House, 841-5464.
