Galena's Whitney Williams held Lowry's leading scorer, Jessica Denison scoreless while adding 12 points in a 41-23 victory at home in the first division-one game of the season.

Jennifer Burton scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds with Jannelle Mack and Williams each contributing five for the Grizzlies.

Galena scored 19 points in the first quarter, and were held to just four in the second.

"We wore ourselves out after the first quarter and Lowry is the type of team that comes at you for 32 minutes," Galena coach Karen Friel said.

After being outscored 11-4 in the second period, Galena held Lowry scoreless for the entire third period.

Galena (16-3) will travel to face South Tahoe at 5:15 p.m. today.
