Ann Wagner, president of Chapter X, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and June Miller, chairman of Chapter X's Program for Continuing Education, presented Heather Gottschalk with checks for her final semester in vocal performance at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international organization which was formed in 1869 in Iowa for the specific purpose of helping women achieve their goals in education.
The organization has five specific areas in which to pursue these opportunities for women.
They are an educational loan fund for students, an international peace scholarship for women from foreign countries, a program for continuing education for women who have dropped out of college and go back to get their degrees, a scholar award for women who are pursuing advanced degrees and scholarships for girls at Cottey Junior College in Nevada, Mo.
The sisterhood has owned and operated this college since 1927 and hundreds of girls have graduated from there on the scholarships awarded to them. Many Nevada girls have been the recipients of that privilege.
Gottschalk received a grant of $1,000 from the Program for Continuing Education at the international level and $500 from Chapter X in Carson City to assist her in finishing her final year of college.
