GARDNERVILLE - Within a few months, travelers to the Carson Valley will be able to enjoy upscale overnight accommodations while learning about a segment of Gardnerville's past.

The Historian Inn, the valley's newest inn, has started construction at the site location at 1427 Hwy. 395, Gardnerville.

Jeannie Johnson, director and general manager of the Historian Inn, said that the inn will have 35 rooms plus four stores.

"All of the rooms are designed to provide amenities similar to home and office, with high speed Internet access and warm decor," said Johnson, who added that 10 rooms are specifically designed for the business traveler.

"We've added desks, portable phones and we'll even have laptop computers available," said Johnson.

"The Historian Inn is designed to tie into the downtown theme," said R.P. Heim, the project's architect. Heim researched hundreds of historical photographs so that he could get a feel for the architectural styles.
