Obituary: Alvin Matthew May

A memorial service for Alvin Matthew May, 90, a Carson City resident who lived in the Gardnerville-Carson City area for the past 50 years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. May died March 31, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1910, in Minnesota, to John and Mary Lietz May.

Before moving to this area, he lived in Montana.

Mr. May worked for various ranches in the Gardnerville area in the early 1950s. He was a mechanic for the Great Northern Railroad in Whitefish, Mont., fixing and maintaining steam engines. He also worked at Carson Feed Mill in Minden for many years.

Among his survivors are his wife, Mildred, of Carson City; seven sons; three daughters and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Private inurnment will be at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 901 Beverly Drive, Carson City 89706.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
