Obituary: David Baldassare

A graveside service for David Dante Baldassare Sr., 75, a Carson City resident for the past 26 years, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Mr. Baldassare died Feb. 10, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center. He was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Long Island, N.Y., to Dominick and Anntoinette Stabile Baldassare.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Long Island.

Mr. Baldassare was a piano technician and played many musical instruments. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carson City and a past member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Police Auxiliary in New York. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army as an infantryman and machine gunner in the invasion for Casino at the Anzio Beachhead. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received and the Bronze Star of Valor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dominick.

Among his survivors are his wife Josephine and mother Anntoinette Fusco, both of Carson City; sons David of Carson City and Jesse of Dayton; sister Catherine Nagel of Carson City; one grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
