David L. Greenhalgh, who developed the computer system that handles the Yellow Pages during his 28-year career as an electrical engineer for AT&T, died Tuesday May 23, 2000 at Carson Convalescent Center.
Mr. Greenhalgh, 69, had moved to Carson City at age 14 and lived here most of his life.
He was born March 25, 1931, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Alan E. and Irene Lavinia Hill Greenhalgh. He graduated from Carson High School in 1949 and he served in the U.S. Air Force.
During his career with the telephone company, he also was instrumental in developing the electronic telephone switching system and he wrote technical manuals. He was a life member of Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Greenhalgh was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include wife Shirley Greenhalgh of Carson city; son James Biselli of Carson City; daughters Linda Christine Biselli of Fort Worth, Texas, and Debby Ebsen of Carson City; brothers Bruce Greenhalgh of Carson City, Larry Greenhalgh of Oregon and Chester Greenhalgh of Alabama, and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery, with Walton's Chapel of the Valley in charge of arrangements.
