Obituary: Lois K. Desmond

A Mass of Christian burial for Lois K. Desmond, 84, a Gardnerville resident for the past 28 years, will be at noon Thursday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with a Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Desmond died Nov. 27, 1999, in Corona, Calif. She was born July 27, 1915, in Great Falls, Mont., to Daniel V. and Clara Wilken Kelley.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Desmond was a secretary. She was a Catholic and a member of St. Gall. She was active in her church organizations. She loved crafts, travel, music and to paint.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne W., July 16, 1985; daughter, Theresa Stoddard, March 8, 1993, and brother, Donald Kelley.

Among her survivors are her daughters, Dana Desmond of Gardnerville, Barbara Desmond of Iowa, Mary Johnson of Gardnerville, and Virginia Hernandez and Lori Desmond, both of California; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Johnson home in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
