Obituary: Phyllis Simon

A memorial service for Phyllis Simon, a long-time Carson Valley resident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Gardnerville.

Mrs. Simon died Feb. 12, 2000, in Northern California. She was born Oct. 8, 1910, in Panama, Iowa.

She spent many years in San Francisco, Oregon and Northern California.

Mrs. Simon was a homemaker. She was particularly interested in the welfare of children and served as a foster parent. She was also active in Cub Scouts in San Francisco. She loved the outdoors and maintained a weather journal every day for nearly 40 years. She loved swimming and bowling.

Among her survivors are her husband, Charley; children, Farajean Colbert and Joe Simon and his wife, Sheryl; five grandchildren; a step-grandson and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Ebert; and a niece.
