RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada, Reno may finally be getting a student-run radio station.

The Nevada Board of Regents is expected to agree on Friday to apply for a broadcast license on behalf of the university, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported in Monday's edition.

UNR students have been seeking their own broadcast outlet for at least a decade.

The current proposal calls for a low-power FM station that will play alternative rock along with other campus-oriented programming.

The application with the Federal Communications Commission is expected to take several months.
