Religion: Carson City Aglow Fellowship to Meet June 3

The Carson City Aglow Lighthouse Fellowship will meet at 9:30 a.m. June 3 at the Nevada State Library& Archives, 100 N. Stewart St.

Guest speaker is the Rev. Marlene Wendell, who brings the message "To Fan the Flame and Bring Fresh Fire."

Wendell is an enthusiastic teacher with a gift for making scripture come alive in a way that both encourages and challenges.

She has been teaching and ministering since 1980 at local churches, women's conferences and in third-world countries with medical mission teams.

She and her husband the Rev. George Wendell co-pastor Victory Christian Center in Carson City.

Before beginning the church in 1994, Marlene worked in the criminal justice system for more than 30 years, the last 20 years as judicial assistant for the First Judicial District Court of the State of Nevada.

Though her professional position was very challenging and interesting, being able to see lives touched and changed by the power of God through His word and the touch of the Holy Spirit has been far more rewarding, she said.
