'Weed Warrior' class held April 4

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension invites the public to sign up for the "Weed Warrior" Invasive Weed Training Program to learn about noxious and nuisance weeds common to Nevada.

The program will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 4 at the Douglas County Cooperative Extension, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville.

Participants will learn about weed law, biology, identification, management and control of noxious weeds such as tall whitetop and various thistles and other nuisance weeds, including cheat grass and foxtail barley.

The registration fee is $25 and includes training materials, refreshments and a "Weed Warrior" T-shirt. Participants lunch on their own 12:30-1:30 p.m. The Nevada Department of Agriculture will award seven Continuing Education Units (CSUs) to licensed pesticide applicators who complete this training.
