Obituary: Joe Walter Wolk

Joe Walter Wolk, 82, a Carson City resident for the past 28 years, died July 21, 2001, at Sierra Convalescent Home. He was born April 30, 1919, in Snohomish, Wash., to Thomas Henry and Gertrude Mrozinski Wolk.

He graduated from Snohomish High School.

He married Iris F. Atwell in 1949 in Eureka.

Mr. Wolk owned and operated Joe Wolk Plumbing in Eureka and continued his plumbing business in Carson City. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 552 and the Shriner's.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years.

He was preceded in death by his four brothers, a sister and a stepdaughter Mary L. Totten.

Among his survivors are his wife Iris of Carson City; son Joe W. Jr. and wife Renna-Le of Ukiah, Calif.; stepson, Warren Atwell, and wife Joann of Clovis, Calif.; grandchildren Mark Wolk, Mike Atwell, Marcee Atwell Varela and great-grandson Justin Atwell.

A private service was held at the Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.

Cremation was at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
