The Carson Cannons high school age group fall baseball team split a pair of games on Sunday and came up one run short of advancing to the championship round of the Holmade Wood Bat Classic in Auburn, Calif.

Todd Hendrix pitched a solid complete game Sunday morning, but the Cannons lost 3-2 to the Auburn Cubs at James Field in a game that decided first-place in the teams' pool play. By winning, Auburn advanced to the tournament championship game today.

The Cannons came back to beat Bear River (Calif.) 6-4 behind the combined four-hit pitching of Ryan Henry and Eric Melendez. Jon Teeter and Aaron Henry both hit 2-for-3 and scored two runs for Carson.

On Saturday, the Cannons played the Reno Silver Sox and Nevada Union to 5-5 ties in games called by time limit.

The Cannons play an 11 a.m. double header this Saturday against the Bret Harte Gold Rush in Angels Camp, Calif.
