A funeral for Orville C. Brogan, 82, a Carson City resident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, Calif.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Chapel of the Chimes.

Mr. Brogan died Sept. 8, 2001, at the Life Care Center in Reno. He was born Nov. 29, 1918, in Vale, Iowa, to James and Margaret Giblin Brogan.

Mr. Brogan owned the donut shop in the Gourmet House at Fairway Park Shopping Center in Hayward. He worked as a stationary engineer with the city and county of San Francisco. He enjoyed collecting coins, fishing and writing stories.

He served as a Marine at Iowa Jima during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl.

Among his survivors are his sons Danny of Livermore, Calif., Curtis of Carson City and James of Richmond, Calif.; daughters Janice Wimer of Carson City, Ronda Smith of Castro Valley, Calif., Lynette Hunt of Fremont, Calif., Denise Brogan-Whitford of Vallejo, Calif., and Noring Faircloth of Lake Tahoe; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Burial will be at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
