Obituary: Sylvia Mae Williams

A funeral for Sylvia Mae Williams, 86, a Carson City resident for the past 23 years will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Walton's.

Mrs. Williams died Sept. 25, 2001 at Regent Care Center in Reno. She was born Sept. 27, 1914, in Johnstown, Pa. to William and Margaret May Bloom.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Los Angeles for 20 years and at Lake Tahoe for 20 years.

Mrs. Williams was a retired waitress. She worked 15 years at Harveys at Lake Tahoe, two years in the Sage Room and 13 years at the Top of the Wheel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Orval C. in 2000; sister Stella Bloom; brothers George F. Bloom and Ansone H. Bloom; half-brothers Samuel, Kelly, Woodrow, Carl, Harvey and Bernard and half-sisters Irene, Ellen and Lillian.

Among her survivors are stepsons Orval E. Williams of Greeley, Colo. and Stanley T. Williams of Minden; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
