Champion Speedway will offer a "Night of 200 Laps" Saturday as four racing divisions will feature 50-lap main events. The evening is also billed as Ladies Night, offering a $2 discount to all women age 18 and older.

A plus for the Legends division is a $6,000 purse, sponsored by Dana Bailey, owner of Traveler's RV of Reno. The winner gets $750, last place is guaranteed $100, contingent on a minimum 24-car count.

"They will start 24 cars in the main event," said Bailey. "From what I understand, they (Champion Speedway) already have more than 24 cars signed to race."

Bailey is the sponsor of Michael Morrissey Jr., driver of the 15n Legends racecar. He said he got involved in local racing to try to help promote the Legends cars in Northern Nevada, to get larger car counts and have drivers from outside the area see what Northern Nevada has to offer.

"By giving the drivers at least $100 back, they can bring the family, enjoy the weekend and it won't cost so much money," said Bailey. "There's not a lot of money in winning. We (team) do a lot of traveling and when other drivers talk about Carson City, they've been satisfied with the way they've been treated."

Drivers from Nevada, California, Washington and Utah are scheduled to race Saturday. In addition, full car counts in the Hobby Stocks, Sportsman and Late Model classes are expected.

"They're gonna have a big show," said Bailey. "It should be real good for everybody."

"This is probably one of the best races all year," said Kris Martin, general manager of Champion Speedway.

"We've got a super car count coming in the with Legends, and a big purse. Drivers are coming from Utah, Washington, California and southern Nevada.

"I've talked with several of the drivers from the other divisions and they're really excited about running 50 laps. And for the fans, it's simply a great night of racing. There will be no heats, just qualifying, trophy dashes and main events."
