DAYTON -- A local developer will seek final approval Thursday of 21 master plan amendments involving about 2,300 acres east of Dayton.

Endorsed in November by the Lyon County Planning Commission, a two-thirds vote of the county commissioners is necessary before the changes become official.

Landmark Homes developer Jim Bawden made the requests under the name of Chase Development. If approved, plans will allow for approximately 4,800 homes to be built on 1,500 acres of undeveloped property to the north side of Highway 50, extending from the Rose Peak-Sutro area to Six Mile Canyon Road in Mark Twain.

The proposal includes 500 acres of open space, 228 acres of commercial and 43 acres of industrial property.

A 13-member volunteer committee, under the direction of professional planner Greg Evangelatos, met for more than two years to revise the West Central Lyon County Land Use Master Plan. Lyon County commissioners approved it Nov. 7.

Other planning commission agenda items include:

-- Silverhorn Subdivision's tentative map for a proposed 138 lots on about 54 acres off of Melanie Drive south of Highway 50 east of Dayton.

-- Bluestone Estates' tentative subdivision map for a proposed 153 residential lots and one commercial lot on approximately 71 acres south of Highway 50 between the Silverhorn subdivision and Cardelli Road.

-- An application to revert five acres at 4980 Highway 50 east from general commercial to 12,000-square-foot residential zoning.

The Lyon County Commissioners meet at 9 a.m. at the Administrative Complex, 27 S. Main St., Yerington. For information call 577-5037 from Dayton or Silver Springs or 463-6531.
