A memorial service for John D. Barlow, a Carson City resident for the past 17 years, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith in Carson City.
Mr. Barlow died Dec. 5, 2002, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Downey, Calif., to Lyman Clifford and Janet Glen Somerville Barlow. He was 78.
He enjoyed fishing and bowling and was a big fan of the world champion California Angels.
He was a truck driver for Russell Truck Co. and drove for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Carson City for 12 years. For the past four years he worked as a mail carrier for the city. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 208.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Seabee.
Prior to living in Carson City he lived in Cypress, Calif., and Downey, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his brother Russell.
Among his survivors are his wife of 57 years, Charlotte of Carson City; sons Ron of Rio Rancho, Calif., Michael of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Paul of Anacortes, Wash., and Lee of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughters Janet Hayes of Penn Valley, Calif., Kathy Bergeon of Altaloma, Calif., and June Longdon of Downey; brothers Nathan of Arcadia, Calif., Paul of Hanford, Calif.; a sister Margaret Polder of Lemoore, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
