120 YEARS AGO

A Carson man, who has for years been in the habit of lending books and never getting them back, has invented a machine which will make his fortune. It is a little slip of brass with a chemical compound, the same as blowing up the czar. It is inserted in the back and locked and blows up on the scheduled time, doing $300 worth of damage to the room.

100 YEARS AGO

Miss Adelina Rafetto has been tendered a testimonial benefit. "Holding you in highest esteem as a woman and a native daughter of Carson City," signed by 200 citizens of Carson. Acceptance was at the Opera House, Jan. 3, 1903.

70 YEARS AGO

Plans for an entertainment for members of the Legislature when it convenes here next month were set by a meeting of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce last night. They are working on getting a new road from the highway to the city to eliminate the present passing of the city dump grounds, Mrs. V.E. Maher in charge.

50 YEARS AGO

Mrs. Hazel Jones, formerly Hazel Latourneau of Carson City, dies in Los Angeles. She was born, educated, and married in Carson. Her mother was Cordelia Brule Latourneau. and her grandfather at one time operated St. George Hotel.

20 YEARS AGO

Bishop Gorman Council 7932 of the Knights of Columbus celebrates its first anniversary this weekend by distributing Christmas food baskets to the needy, said J. Ray Carlson, Grand Knight.

10 YEARS AGO

Dec. 5 was "Ted Loucks Day" at the Carson City Library for the 10-year volunteer. He flies to St. Louis to a new life as a postulant in the Catholic Order of Alexian Brothers.
